26 Things

In honor of my 26th birthday today, I've been inspired by some other blogs to create a list of 26 things to do while I'm 26. Some things will push me out of my comfort zone, others will hopefully serve as motivation to get things done, while others I will just sit back and cherish every moment. I hope to blog about most of these things, so I ask all of you to help keep me accountable.

I'm starting this 26th year by doing what I hope to do more often, taking time for just me. I'm sitting in a local Starbucks, drinking a drink I don't often let myself get (too many calories), after I finish this post, I'm going to take out my new Kindle, a birthday present from my in-laws, and read a few chapters of a great book, before I head off to treat myself to a mani/pedi. Later tonight, I'm heading to dinner with my husband and a couple of friends.

It's a great day!!!

Rings, Vows and Sunflowers

Michael and I traveled to Pennsylvania this weekend for the wedding of one of my college roommates. We were roommates from sophomore to senior year and it was such a honor to be a part of her special day.

Friday was spent picking sunflowers and decorating,

Saturday we woke up to a gorgeous day. We spent the morning, like more girls do, in the hair salon getting our hair and makeup done then it was off to put finishing touches at the reception site and finally getting dressed for the wedding.

Here are some of my favorite pictures from the day.

Congratulations Ryan and Heather!!! Wishing you many years of love and happiness.

A Feel Good Move

In my opinion, regardless of your stance upon our Country's military operations, all Americans need to support the troops that are putting their lives in danger to protect our freedom. Having two family members currently in the Air Force, plus my best friend's little brother serving with the Army, and countless family members that have served in the past, I always feel compelled to do something for our troops.

When I heard about Baking GALS (Give A Little Support), from my best friend Jess, I thought what a better way to combine my desire to support our troops and my love of baking. Every month, teams are formed that sponsor a specific soldier. Members join a team, or multiple teams, and send a box of love and support to that specific soldier. Each soldier is then hopefully bombarded with multiple boxes that they can share with their fellow soldiers.

This month I've joined two teams that are supporting a solider in the Pacific and one in Afghanistan. Are you willing to spend an afternoon baking, or even going and buying a few of their favorite snacks, and sending some love to a well deserving solider???

To get you in the baking mood, here are some really cute cookie inspiration pictures:

To join Baking Gals, go to their website: http://www.bakinggals.com/ and create a new account. It may take a few days for the administrator to authorize your account, but once she does you'll be able to join a team for that month's round.

Happy Baking!!!

Did You See What's New?

For anyone who follows my shop on Etsy, you may have noticed a new product that was listed this past weekend. Yes that's right, Pink Poppy Creations is now creating iPad covers! For those (like me) who have yet to be able to convince their husband to let you get one yet, I'm also creating Nook/Kindle covers. Keep your eyes open!!!

Last Minute Ideas Are Sometimes The Best

What to do for dinner when you forgot to take something out of the freezer and you have 20 pounds of tomatoes sitting on your counter (or a can in the pantry) and artichoke hearts in the fridge???

Well if you're me you make The Pioneer Woman's Spaghetti with Artichoke Hearts and Tomatoes.

Yum!
