Easter Flowers

With Easter only a week and a half away, my mind has drifted to how I am going to decorate our tables for dinner. (And yes, I did say tables as I need three of them to sit the 18 people coming over for dinner. And yes, I know I'm a bit crazy considering we have only been in our house for 3.5 weeks. I like to keep life interesting.)

Here are some ideas I have found .

Just a Tad Moody

So last Friday I tackled the first painting project in the house. What better room than our bedroom.

Before

After

It should come as no shock to those that know me that I like dark moody bedrooms. Considering the townhouse bedroom was dark brown.

I decided to go with a soothing, yet dark gray color (Martha Stewart's Cement Gray from Home Depot). I love how it turned out. Now for the necessary accessories.

We need some art work over the bed, or maybe a sunburst mirror like this (but cheaper than the one below):

And a new coverlet like this one from Target. We decided we're going to paint  the furniture too. I was thinking of a darker gray color, I just need to get Michael to agree. I guess some window treatments would be helpful too.

I'll be sure to post more pictures as I finish the room.

Out our Window

Here is what I woke up to on Friday morning.

How serene is that? Just one of the perks of living out in the "country." Michael and I have experienced so much in the last two weeks, most of which we will look at each other and say "we're in the country now," even though we're only five minutes from civilization. It's so peaceful out here, I have no doubt we made the right decision to move out of our high density living area that our townhouse was located in. I can't wait for spring to get out in the yard and start gardening!

Here are some more pictures I took Friday.

Glitter Eggs

I completed this project in literally two minutes. (Well maybe it took five minutes because of all the picture taking.) I stopped at the Dollar Store after work when night and found these great glitter eggs.

To jazz up our mantle for Easter I pulled out my apothecary jar, added some spanish moss I had leftover from my moss wreath, and pulled the eggs off of their wooden sticks.

So what do you think of my two minute project?

New Adventures

Michael and I finally closed on our new house last Wednesday! The road to closing was certainly not an easy one but we finally made it. We have to take care of an issue with the septic system and then we will truly begin the process of making this house our home.

While searching for the old MLS listing I found some pictures that shows the condition of the house before the remodel.

Welcome!

Welcome to our new blog! We (or I should say I) created this blog to help document making our new house our home and allow our family and friends to keep in touch and show them all of the changes. I see this blog being about our home, decorating ideas, recipes to try and much more.

Welcome to the life of michael and bethany!
